Pratishtha

The act of making sacred.

The Vedic Act

Pratishtha is the Sanskrit word for consecration. It is the Vedic rite by which a cast idol is transformed from a metal object into a living deity. The rite, called Prana Pratishtha, the installation of breath, is performed by a qualified Vedic Pandit at a temple of significance, using Vedic mantras prescribed in the Agama Shastra.

Why It Matters

A Ganesha idol without Pratishtha is a sculpture. With it, it is a deity. This house performs the rite for every piece it sells, Tier 1 through Tier 4. The certificate documents the date, the temple, the Pandit, and the rite performed. It is not a formality. It is the primary function of the house.

Shilpa Shastra Compliance

The Iconometric Standard

The Manasara Shilpa Shastra specifies the exact proportions of every sacred form. For a seated Ganesha, this means: the total height is divided into nine parts (nava-tala). The head occupies two parts. The torso three. The legs four. Each arm, each finger, each ornament has its prescribed measurement relative to the total.

Every piece from this house is measured against these specifications and verified by a named Shilpa Shastra scholar before the Certificate is issued.

The House Document

Every piece sold by this house is accompanied by a House Document, a formal certificate in the visual language of a Swiss watch paper. Not a receipt. Not a warranty. A document that defines what this object is, what tradition it belongs to, and who made it sacred.
